Community rules
BrokeBite works when each contribution helps another person decide what they can actually buy, for how much, and when.
Version 2026-09-13
Share practical evidence
- Name the exact venue and branch, item, current price, portion size, and any condition such as eat-in, takeaway, app, lunch-only, or closing-time availability.
- Use a recent menu, price label, receipt with private details hidden, or storefront price board.
- Describe what you observed. Do not present an old social post or uncertain memory as a current confirmed price.
- Report changes when a listing is no longer useful.
Protect people and their rights
- Do not upload recognisable faces, children, payment details, receipt identifiers, private addresses, or conversations.
- Upload only photos you took or have clear permission to share.
- Keep notes about the food and practical visit details, not personal attacks on staff, customers, or contributors.
Keep the map trustworthy
- No fake prices, coordinated voting, duplicate submissions, referral farming, advertising disguised as a recommendation, or undeclared commercial promotion.
- Community checking is evidence review, not a popularity rating or a venue review score.
- If you are connected to a venue, say so in the practical note.
Moderation
Submissions begin in a private moderation queue. Some may be sent to public community checking after a safety and rights review. Community checks never publish a listing by themselves. Authorised moderators may approve, reject, quarantine, correct, or remove material and record the reason.
Use the correction and removal form to challenge a listing or image, report a rights issue, or ask for review. A directly linked image is removed from public checking while the request is handled.
